About the Workshop

Step into a tactile, otherworldly making experience with artist and educator Andrea Dupree (Curious Bluebird). In this 3-hour needle felting workshop, you’ll learn the foundational techniques of sculpting wool while bringing your own soft creature (somewhere between a monster, an alien, and a familiar friend from an unknown world) to life. During the process we’ll also explore examples of unusual flora and fauna to spark your imagination.

Using colorful wool fibers, participants will create 3D forms that can become pocket-sized pets, bag charms, ornaments, wearable art, essential oil diffusers, or unique art objects for your space.
Whether you’re new to fiber art or an experienced maker, you’ll experience a transformative, meditative process in a joyful environment that supports personal expression, skill building and experimentation.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a little fiber on.

What Will Be Provided

All materials and tools will be provided, including wool fibers in a range of colors, felting needles, finger guards and a durable work surface. You’ll leave with your finished creation, and the skills & tools to continue exploring needle felting on your own.

About the Instructor

Andrea Dupree is an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Northern New Mexico, and the founder of Curious Bluebird. Her work centers on sculptural felt forms, installations, and material-based practices that explore transformation, ecology, and creative process. Andrea brings over 20 years of experience as a teaching artist and holds a Master’s degree in Innovative Early Childhood Education, with a focus on the Reggio Emilia approach. She is a registered Yoga teacher, and her workshops integrate mindfulness and hands-on making to support creative exploration. In 2026, Andrea will exhibit in Bound by the High Desert: Contemporary Fiber Art at the Historic Santa Fe Foundation’s El Zaguán Gallery, present a solo exhibition, Curious Maximalist, at Little Bites Gallery in Santa Fe, and debut a large-scale fiber art installation, Gathered and Felt, at the New Mexico Museum of Art’s Vladem Contemporary. Upon arrival, look for the Rainbow Rainbow sign at the front entrance. Security will check you in and direct you to Rainbow Rainbow.
